Workshops on Asian Brush Painting.

Saturday, April 7, 1-3 OR Wednesday, April 11, 6-8

In Conjunction with the April exhibition at the Red Dog Gallery, AFAS and

featured artist Barbara Rizza Mellin are offering two workshops on Chinese

Brush Painting. Both workshops are the same; choose the date that is best for

you. We will start with a demonstration and a little background history. Then,

you will get to try your hand at this ancient art form. We will learn how to use

just one bamboo brush to create the thinnest and thickest lines in your art work,

how to grind an inkstick to produce the black ink used in traditional images, and

how to apply Chinese watercolors. We will adapt ancient techniques, which are

meditative as well as artistic. All supplies for use in the workshop will be provided.

No artistic background in necessary. All welcome.
